Frequent Questions
Why intercool & How does it work??
The Turbo is an air 'compressor'. When air is compressed it causes it to be heated. This heat is bad for the engine and performance. The intercooler cools the air after its been through the turbo and before it enters the engine.
Where does an intercooler live?
Usually in the mouth of the front bumper, sometimes can be found in the inner wing or on the top of the engine. Best placed in the flow of moving air, in the front bumper area.
Is bigger; Better?
No. Larger oversized intercoolers can cause lag and longer turbo spool up. Fit the most appropriate intercooler depending on power, long term power goals and turbo size / boost pressure.
Intercooler Alternatives?
Charge coolers which use water to cool the intake air can be used where there is a lack of available space for an intercooler, often found on mid / or rear engined cars. These are very efficient, but harder to fit and involve more parts and cost.
Pipes, fitting & routing?
If there is no 'off the shelf' kit for your car, Dont worry! We can help with supplying universal piping and the parts needed to make a pipe run. Try to keep the piping as short as possible.
